Had some cash for my birthday so decided to treat myself & order a new monitor. I ordered this 22" widescreen flatscreen http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/22%22+Arianet+Widescreen+LCD+Monitor+With+DVI+-+Black+?productId=31977 Cost £116 inc VAT & next day delivery can't wait to give it a go ! I have been using a 10 year old 17" CRT which has had it colours have gone & it is as blurry as anything hope to see a big improvement. Next will be a new processor !

I'm quite happy with mine, started n2003 on the B computer with the 19" CRT and didn't care for the "old fashioned" look at all.

Wow all up & running & been racing rFactor at 1680x1050 resolution & it looks absolutely stunning. Texture settings & track detail are full. Car details med . shadows med .visible 12 cars 2xAA i am getting 85 fps in heavy traffic & well over a 100 alone & it looks like a completely different game ! Just need the new processor now oh then maybe a new graphics card & more memory ! Glad I got the monitor before the processor this has made a huge difference from my blurry old CRT.

Doh ! I didn't know they were so cheap - ignorance (and my blurry 17" CRT) was bliss. Now I had to have a look, and suddenly my anti-consumerist instincts melted away. I got mine from Argos today, Optiquest 22" - it is probably cheap crap (it was certainly cheap), but I couldn't be bothered to plough my way through endless subjective reviews, and it is about a million times better than my old CRT. Thanks (?!) Neil...

Perhaps the most stunning difference is in GPL, but then I'm bias. Now I need a better graphics card to get the best from the monitor. That will have to wait until after Xmas.

I know what you mean you upgrade 1 thing then something else is the weak link & nags away at you ,making you think if I just change this it will be loads better. It's a never ending circle of spending cash ! I am going to get a new processsor next something like a Athlon64x2 6000 dual core that is the best that my board will take. Will cost around £70 delivered. Then it will be like maybe a new graphics card it never ends !

When I had my PC in the living room I had it connected to my 17" monitor & to the 26" HD tv at the same time as it had dual outputs on the graphics card. Was weird as hell racing with the monitor in front of you then looking to the side & seeing it on the big screen.

Hmm, dad's 3 yr old 19" 4:3 LCD is blowing up. Going to give him the choice of my 20" 16:9 and 20" 4:3 (which aren't the greatest for games) and get him to "invest" in something whizzy for me today This is what your kids will start doing to you soon Derek

LOL, well I got a Samsung T200, first impressions are good - wondering whether I should have got the T220 = 22" but it wouldn't be as sharp as it has the same max resolution. Also the top of the screen would have been a bit high up for where I sit. « Last edit by SteveS on Mon Nov 24, 2008 9:26 pm. »
