I remember on the old V8Thunder forums (before they were hacked) we had a great, nostalgic thread going about retro games. Let's try and get that going again. Off the top of my head, my favourite games of all time have been: AmigaCivilization Microprose Formula One Grand Prix Microprose Golf Kick Off 2 Railroad Tycoon PCColin McRae Rally 2.0 NASCAR Racing 2003 PlayStationSSX Tricky WipeOut 2097

Wished I had an Amiga back then... PC:Wilkanoid(free brakeout game) Battlefield1942 GTA Vice City(very cool music, cars to dream of and you can load your own mp3 to be played when driving around in a Lamborghini. Only, but big disadvantage is that you canīt drive with a wheel!) Richard Burns Nascar Racing 2003 Others:Episode 1 - pinball, click on pic! Theater Of Magic - pinball Gorgar - pinball (only played it for a day when I was 12, wonderful... first talking pb machine!) Asteroids - arcade Defender - arcade Frogger - arcade Donkey Kong - arcade Tried my brothers Xbox and Fifa(something) was fun when having a beer or two... « Last edit by Peter on Thu Oct 06, 2005 6:36 pm. »

Neil_LCFC wrote Sensible Soccer ( much better than Kick off 2 !!)
Oh, don't get me started! While Sensible Soccer was fun for a while (several minutes) and the presentation of the game was a lot more slick and professional, as a game it had so little depth. You could only play one way, and games degenerated into just slide tackles and divign headers. Kick Off 2, on the other hand, allowed you to play with your own style of play as it allowed so much more control over your players and passes. Many a happy afternoon spent playing this game with my friends. Am tempted from time to time to pick up a cheap Amiga off eBay so I can play it again. Best football game ever. No question.

Player Manager was great, did anyone play that? Sensi vs KO2, tough call, I think Sensi edges it as you can see enough of the pitch to actually pass the ball to one of your own players more than 20 yards away, KO aklways seemed a bit of a kick it and hope type of affar. I've got Sensi WOS on the PC still, and I think you can download an Amiga version for the PC from the Underdogs site. Other than that, here's a quick list of a few of my faves: AT2600 Combat Space Invaders Spectrum Lunar Jetman Lords of Midnight Doomdarks Revenge Stonkers Ant Attack Sabre Wulf Elite The Hobbit Chequered Flag CBM64 Revs Forbidden Forest Paralax Decathlon Uridium Hovver Bovver Amstrad CPC Arnhem Desert Rats Vulcan Sorcery Amiga Starglider GP series Populous PC Total War series more to follow when I get time and my brain works better.

Some short descriptions, would be nice, of the top games... so many I never heard of! And what is Amstrad CPC, CBM64, and Spectrum? AT2600 I can guess is early Atari, since the Space Invaders is an early game, which I liked a lot!

You never heard of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum? 48k Z80 processor, 3.5Mhz (lol) with 8k screen RAM. 1982 onwards. Amstrad CPC 6128, 128k RAM (but you could only address 64k at a time due to it also being 9 bit Z80 runing at 3Mhz), late 1980s Commodore 64, 64 k 6502 CPU, running at 1 Mhz (lol lol) circa 1982, you could only use about 32k of it's RAM due to the custom chips.

Actually if you type the games into google you will find screen shots and descriptions, I'm too lazy to do them all! I might if I get time later.

Had sensi & SWOS on Amiga & KO2 & Goal but the Sensi games were always more fun as you could plan attacks by being able to se where your men are. I still play Sensi now & again on Snes or Megadrive emulators on PC,It's actually possible via Gens to play eachother online at Sensi Via Gens (megadrive emulator). I've still got me old Amiga A600 in the Attic round me mums plus loads of games.Used to quite like Jaguar XJ220 for racing games oh & Vroom.

Okey, okey... the commodore I know a little about we had a Vic64 in the family around 82, I think. And then I had a 486 25Hz back in 92... Amstrad looks cool floppy built in keyboard!

You mean Vic 20 Peter? The Amstrad was OK, first computer I bought with a disc drive as the Spectrum never had one and the CBM was stupidly expensive in this country, Ģ400 ish for the base unit, Ģ350 or so for the disc drive. I got my Amstrad with monitor and built in 3 inch drive for under Ģ400, the discs cost about Ģ5 each though and held less than 200k on them! I bought a CBM 64 second hand in 1987 with monitor and disc drive for just over Ģ100 which was a bargain, but the Amiga came out about then so I blew Ģ400 on one of those (or was it more) later the same year.

Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies were the ones I remember. Excellent games, with great graphics and funky music.

Maybe it was vic20, or maybe I mix something together... The one we had was a commodore, then there was a lot of general talking of/referring to the vic later on... the "stoneage" machine! The Amiga was quite expensive back then! Yeah, a good pinball machine is a good pinball machine! And think arcade games/environment are more "mystic" than pc... probably because you donīt own them and thereīs more room for longing and expectations... And since one pay for playing thereīs a another dimension of trying to get better... or to get a free game. Pc on the other hand has it own qualities! Playing pinball occasionally when there is one to play. Tried some pc-pinball that was very nice looking but boring too play... maybe there are some new titles out there!?

Most underrated console ever is the Dreamcast some of the games on it still look as good as anything that's ever come out on PS2 or XBOX.

Dreamcast - MSR (Metropolis Street Racing) - awesome! I've still got the Dreamcast somewhere, Virtua Tennis 2k2 was good as well.

Donīt know the console but itīs possible that it was Atari... Table tennis "ping pong" was the game, black/white... just two paddles on each side of a white line, one could screw the ball a bit... nothing else then the speed went up gradually. I guess Virtua Tennis is somewhat more complex!?
