The Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships 2010 will be held at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, on Sunday 31st January. There will be open races over 2km and 500m, and age category races over 1km. Not sure what I'll be doing just yet, but I'll definitely be attending.

Two days to go...
I have entered the 30-39 MenHWT 1000m race and also the Open MenHWT 500m sprint. Unfortunately the first is at 14:42 and the second at 18:20! So I'd better remember to take a good book with me. ![]() Not expecting to PB over either distance, but I'll give it a damn good try. _______________ ![]() |

Felt pretty crappy yesterday, so decided to give the 1000m race a miss. I'd have had a three and a half hour gap between races, and I just didn't fancy that at all. I'd have given the entire day a miss, but I'd challenged a guy from work to do the 500m sprint, so felt I had to go and do that at the very least.
Pre-race warm-up confirmed that I wasn't 100%, felt way harder than it should. Race itself started OK, and I managed to go out faster than expected. I couldn't maintain it, though, and the second half saw a drop in stroke rate and pace. Ended up with a 1:38.5, a season's best, but some way outside PB territory. Only 19s slower than the winning time... ![]() _______________ ![]() |
