Hopeing to take delivery of a Fanatec GT3 wheel and shifter set in the next few days to compliment the speed7 pedals set Ive had for a while. Went the route instead of G27 as my pedals are better than the logitech ones.
I'll keep you posted with a report if and when I get it running.

Please do Paul. I looked at this wheel previously, but couldnt figure out if it had paddle shifters or not. Great looking wheel - pedals look class also.

@Neil - I've never driven without FFB, but on the occasions it disapeared by accident, it felt horrible!

Will do Jim. I can tell you two things about it, I does have paddle shifters and Im not getting the pedals. The main reason is I have a set of speed7 pedals which are still working very well 10 years on after servicing last year. (google image speed7 pedals to see why I dont need any more, I bought them when I used to have money). The GT3 comes as a wheel only which is why its only E169.

@Neil
Do yourself a favour Neil and sort yourself out a ffb wheel if you can possibly afford it, then dl and install "realfeel". Sooooo much more control and feedback from the wheels. You feel every every traction loss, drift and undulation in the track.

Any reccomendations not really wanting to spend too much ? Is it possible to get something for around £50 with decent FFB & fairly sturdy pedals ? After driving thousands of virtual miles not feeling a thing I think I must be missing a trick here.

There's also the Logitech Driving Force GT Steering Wheel:

I have the model before that one (Driving Force Pro, I think), which was a PS2 wheel, but works fine on the PC.

Yeah, I reckon you'd just download the Logitech gaming software from their website, easy as that.

Doing some googles for the wheel, it does seem it will work on the PC.

I had one of the Thustmaster wheels that's on Ebay beore I got my G25. It's a strong wheel with good FFB motors. I paid around £80 new some years ago, gave it to a friend and its still going strong.

The thing that lets down most, if not all, cheaper wheels is the pedals. They're sh1t3, to put none too finer point on it. What might be worthwhile is getting the thrust master, or another cheaper wheel, then keep an eye out on ebay for a knackered G25 wheel. If it comes with the pedals you can use them as a second controller. Works well for me.

@NT
The difference with the GT3 is the belt drive, rather than plastic gears, which apparently give a more rl feel with none of the dead zone notchiness you get with the straight cut G25 gears. I understand the G27 has helical gears which takes up alot of the lash and makes them quieter too.

been told its going to be a week. :(

Trouble with the G27 Neil/Paul is that it no longer has a sequential gear box!! (Unlike most real life modern GT Cars) :shock: so I will skip the G27 :roll: and hope Logitech sort that in their next release or it will have to be the Fanatic if things go wrong with my G25 :(

Which is the reason I am also getting the gear selector pack which comes with a sequential and 6 speed gate shifter which attach to the wheel.
I may have to manufacture seperate, more secure, fixings for the changers though as I've read one report that queries how rigidly they are attached. Since that post they have updated the shifter mounts to 2 solid steel rods rather than tubes. We'll see.

I've never used a wheel with a proper stick shifter, just used the paddles on the back of the wheel so not sure how I would get on with a shifter or if I would even use it. I suppose it would be nice to have the option.

I would say for the money, yes its worth it. The wheel is one that Im currently using. It works fine but it does have some known issues that are fixable if you're not scared of pulling it apart. Namely the switches that operate the paddles can break off their mounts with HEAVY use and the operating lever for the sequential shifter can also break. Both of the problems occured with my 1st momo and none have occured with this 2nd one. The pedals are not up to the standard of the wheel but then none of them are I'm afraid but they'e all the same untill you get into the G25 or G27 range.

that post sounds reallt offputting but it's not meant to be. What Im trying to say is yes go for one of those for the money, its a bargain. It'll be much better than your non ffb sidewinder. :D

Thanks paul. Out of interest would sidewinder pedals work with this wheel if I preferred them ?

In theory you could run them as 2 controllers and use the wheel from one and the pedals from another but tbh i dont there'll be much to chose between them, may as well just use the momo set.
