My ATI 4670 1GB finally gave up the ghost last night. The fan had been making all strange noises for a while before it finally died.
I have installed my old Geforce 7600 GT 256mb & tried rFactor & RAce07. In rFactor the 7600 still copes quite well but had to turn things right down in Race to get it to run smoothly with a 1680x1050 screen resolution.

So it is time for me to buy a new card I was hoping for some advice if anyone is clued up on cards. First things first I have a 400 watt power supply & don't want to buy a bigger one ,so was hoping to use a card which requires not too much power & without need for an extra power connector.

Secondly I dont really want to spend much above £75. I wanted something that was an improvement on the 4670 & was hoping to go back to nvidia after the ATI card packed up on me.
After a quick scan thru the cards I liked the look of the nvidia GT240 something like this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/179471
But it looks like ATI have a bettter card in this the 5670 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190648
I think both should be okay with a 400 watt psu & need no extra power connectors.
Does anyone think the 5670 is the best choice for my budget/requirements or have any other suggestions ? also is it worth paying more for a 1gb version like this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190122 I have read that there is no difference in performance between 512 & 1gb but not sure if it's true or not.

Any help & advice would be much appreciated

Thanks Neil

Just ordered a ATI 5670 512 mb this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/190138 went for free shipping so should get it in 5 working days. It is supposed to be 25% faster than my 4670 that went wrong. Also the 512mb version is equal in all benchmarks to the 1gb version but is about £20 cheaper. The 1gb is only better in ridiculous resolutions like 2560 x 1600 & I can't see me running that.
It is supposed to be slightly better than a 9800GT so hopefully will be okay for when rFactor2 finally comes out & I won't need to change until I finally get a whole new system. With luck I will be okay for another 2 years or so..
