I'm currently revamping the TE website prior to the official launch of the new domain. In the current site, menus are simply text links. Does anyone know of anything else that can be used to make them slightly more 'interesting'? I'd rather not create loads of GIFs for each menu item, but if needed I will. So what HTML developments have I missed over the last few years? =)

Like you Alan, I'm not a fan of using loads of GIFs to create a menu. Flash is an option, but not really an improvement over GIFs. HTML 4 includes the provision for Dynamic HTML. I think it'd be worthwhile considering, as you can create some very fancy menus, without wasting bandwidth. I'll see if I can find some useful links for you...

Thanks for that, Scott. Currently having a look at CoolMenus. It looks ideal.

Have implemented a menu bar that runs along the top of the screen, with drop-down menus. Looks kinda cool. And easy to do.
Have also started working on the dynamic content. I have created a page for each driver with driver details, car gallery, and career stats, all coming from the database. Unfortunately the database is on my PC, and not on our domain. I hope I don't need to create it from scratch there too... |
