Ooh, getting kinda official now. Less than a week and a half until my competition debut at the Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships. Starting to get a little nervous/excited. Should be good. Target will be a Top 10 finish in my race... ;)

Entrants: http://www.scottish-rowing.org.uk/applets/07SIRC_Entrants.pdf

Doing two races - Male 30-39 HWT (2,000m) and Male team (1,000m).

By indoor rowing does that mean rowing machines or some kind of indoor lake?

:)

Funny you should ask that, because the following is actually at my gym:

But, in this case, it's rowing on machines. :P

Well you're guaranteed a top 10 finish in the 30-39s.

How far is your race and what time are you aiming for?

# We're on a row to nowhere # - sorry, that's for the people not on Vent last night :)

OK, new entries in the charts:

# The long and winding row # (that's winding as in puffed out)

and this one from Alan straight into number 1:

# The row to hell #

Please think of some more to brighten up my afternoon :)

# row, row, row your boat gently down the gym

You´re a talking head, Steve! ;)

"And I say row, Jimmy, row
Gonna get there, I don't know
Seems a common way to go
Get down and row, row, row, row, row"

Grateful Dead

Good luck, Alan!

Was renting the Stop Making Sense, many years ago, fell asleep, by exhaustion, not by being bored, still remember it was an amazing intro of the performance!

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well organised event that ran very smoothly. Was good to meet some members of my 'other' team (Scotland The Wave). A good debut competition for us, with three medals and several PBs.

As for me, I finished 5th out of 7 in my race. But more importantly I set a new PB of 7:13.2 - an improvement of 8.2s. Delighted with that. Far, far better than I was expecting. :D

Also may have set a PB in the 1km team event later in the afternoon, but actually have my finishing time to prove it. Will just have to go to the gym this week and beat it properly.

So all my months of raining have paid off. Now my focus switches to the UK championships in November where I will aim to join the sub 7 club.

Just back from the gym - improved 1km time by 4.3s for a 3:29.3.

OK, I'll stop boring you guys with my rowing tales. At least until November... ;)

Eek. SIRC '08 in five weeks time in Edinburgh. Training has not been going well recently (illness, moving home, Christmas, etc), but will start a new thread nearer the time.
