Champ Car staged a successful return to Europe at the weekend, with an exciting race at Zolder. Bruno Junqueira qualified a stunning fourth, which left the Dale Coyne Racing team hopeful of achieving their best ever result. Having been competing in the series since 1984, the outfit has mostly been making up the numbers, with two third place finishes providing the highlights.

This year, once again, they've been competing on a fraction of the budget the other teams enjoy. Originally Dale only intended to run one car, but following pressure from Kevin Kalkhoven to increase grid numbers, added a second. This has left them stretched, even at times having to borrow corner workers in order to be able to complete pit stops. The crew Bruno and Katherine Legge have to work with changes on a race-by-race basis, and they don't have the money for test.

Getting back to the race... things were looking good, until a disastrous first pit stop for Bruno, dropping him to 15th. Not to be deterred, he fought back to effectively lead after the final round of stops. Bruno had stopped earlier than the other front runners, though, leaving him two laps short on fuel. The closing laps of the race were extremely tense, as he attempted to pull off the drive of the season.

I've put together a highlights video of the race. It's nearly 14 minutes long (you don't want to know how long it took me to put it together :P ). Enjoy.
