Just watched it, Paul - enjoyed it very much. Lots of very intense scenes, especially liked Chapter One.

Watched Watchmen on DVD last night. Very good. Not your typical super-hero movie, and all the better for it. Worth catching if you can.

Watched a few filums over the past weeks:
2012 - Predictable distaster movie with superb special effects. The scenes of the earthquake when they escape the city are spectacular. Surrogates - Solid SciFi. Really enjoyed this with Brice Willis with hair! Good plot. From Paris with Love - Travolta is superb as the CIA type hitman. Some nice twists and great carscenes. I'd watch this one again, - highly reccomended. Avatar - Wasnt expecting much from this one after all the hype, but surpisingly, I liked it a lot. The world they created was beautiful - computers have come a long way since Pong! « Last edit by JimF on Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:34 am. » |

Went to see Iron Man 2 on Friday. Loved the first one, but wasn't expecting much from the sequel, to be honest. Didn't think it would be able to remain as fresh, especially given the inevitable influx of new characters. However, it was still lots of fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone who saw the first and enjoyed it.

Watched Shrek Forever After last week. Disappointing, to be honest. Very few funny moments (other than "Do the roar!"), and a fairly predictable take on It's A Wonderful Life.
Hoping to go see Inception tonight... _______________ ![]() |

Went to the cinema last night for the first time since August last year. The film we chose for our 'comeback' was The King's Speech. It is every bit as good as the critics are saying. Always liked Geoffrey Rush (ever since Shine), and Colin Firth is excellent as the stammering prince/king. Definitely worth going to see.

Anyone seen Up? Have had it on DVD for a while now, but watched it for the first time on Friday. I always like Pixar movies, and this one was no exception. The opening few minutes are astonishing - to feel the way you feel that early in a film is an impressive feat of film-making.

Watched Battle Los Angeles at the weeked. Typical USA gung ho marine stuff - worth a punt in you like action films.
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows - slow, but I suppose it's only to be expected given it's only the first half of the film. I hope the final ending is as epic as it should be after watching hours of this stuff! True Grit - Brilliant! Go see this one, loved it everything about it. Agree with the Kings Speech comments Alan - great filum. ![]() |

I saw it too I enjoyed it, really. I usually don't like these type of films but this one was good. It's funny, though, that Geoffrey Rush can go from a hardheaded pirate (Pirates of the Caribbean) to an "innocent" voice-doctor ![]() |

Geoffrey Rush first came to my attention in Shine - if you haven't seen it, do so. A bit like The King's Speech, in the sense of it being a 'nice', feelgood movie.
